Traffic Travis is a popular keywords research tool with several other features of interest to both Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC) practitioners. Why do people like it and is it worth buying?

I’ll answer the second question first in this Traffic Travis review.  The downloadable software package has an unbeatable price – nothing! The Standard version is absolutely free, with no strings attached, for as long as you want.  There is a Professional version, which I have bought and now use, but that is only because I need to manage more than the maximum 5 projects available with the basic version.  For the first 2 years that I did affiliate marketing the Standard version did everything I could have wanted, and lots more. So, yes, Traffic Travis has an excellent ‘price’.

So what, apart from being free, is the basis of the TrafficTravis popularity?  It is very easy to use and there is a good updating service and technical support system.  There are short training videos in each section to help if you need it. It is a quality product. But what does it actually do for you?

TT offers much more than most keyword research tools. There is a good keyword finder with various parameters that you can set, and you can quickly produce an initial group of several thousand possible keywords. Then you can load this initial selection into a filter system that does useful things like remove duplicates and sort keywords into more-targeted groups that can be saved or downloaded for further work. Using this part of Traffic Travis soon becomes second nature, and it is a great way to do keyword research quickly.

There is another research section that allows you to spy on the top 10 websites for any particular keyword, with a simple star rating system showing the estimated effort to rank for that keyword. I find this particularly useful for my own SEO development work.

The section I use almost daily, though, is the search engine ranking section, where you can see in real time how each of your pages is performing in the main search engines. This includes backlinks which can be tracked back to their source.  The Professional version of Traffic Travis offers a reports system to help manage all this, but the Standard version does not.  Frankly, in the early days of internet marketing, I do not feel this is a problem. You can always upgrade later if you feel the need, like I did.

There is a good PPC section too, offering similar keyword tracking and access to the performance of your top competitors.

To round everything off, Traffic Travis has a helpful Resources section, for other software products that it recommends to support your SEO or PPC efforts.

This is, then, much more than a keywords research tool and is, consequently, a bit difficult to label. Research, tracking, analysing keywords and web pages – it does all of this accurately, simply and very well.  Traffic Travis is an invaluable tool for all serious internet marketers, and it is strongly recommended.

Well worth getting while it is still free!
